Blood, sweat, tears and a whole lot of branding! Well, maybe not blood…and probably only a few tears.
A little while back, I was approached by a Chicago-based marketing company, Pivotal 5, about a new product line that they had created. This new line of sports agility training products, PER4M, was next in line to be pitched to retail giant, Walmart, and was in need of a new set of marketing materials. Of course, I was humbled, and thrilled to have the opportunity.
All of our shooting took place at the Ackerman Sports and Fitness Center of Glen Ellyn (http://ackermansportsandfitnesscenter.com/). This was a gorgeous fitness center, which is outfitted with three basketball courts, rock climbing, batting cages and so much more. We wound up shooting the majority of the products on their indoor soccer field, which is an amazing 40×60 yards in size. As for the products themselves, the line ranged everywhere from quick hurdles, to jump trainers, power chutes, speed ladders and more. All of the products are designed to work on specific aspects of your sports game — whether it be speed, agility, or just brute strength. Of course, with such a wide range of high intensity training aids, the mood on set was quick to follow suit!
After a total of three full days at Ackerman (non-consecutive), we had completed our project and were ready to move forward! Here’s a small collection of some of my top favorites from the campaign.
Here’s a quick behind-the-scenes shot of the set. In order to retain continuity between the images, the majority of the products were photographed with a similar lighting setup. The indoor images were all shot with an Alienbees AB1600 and a beauty dish as the main light, with bare 580EX IIs as kickers. For the outdoor images, the 580EX IIs were swapped for Alienbees AB800s.
Last but not least, here’s a quick cell shot of the final product! We found these at our local Walmart. 🙂
