What do you get when you mix four buckets of paint, a rock-star couple that is down for anything and a photographer that isn’t afraid to get his lens dirty? Read on to find out! 🙂
As we strive to do with every couple that we are fortunate enough to work with, we sat down with Rachel and Daniel in hopes to connect with them on a personal level. We wanted to find out who they are and what makes them tic. By doing so, we are able to plan a shoot that not only ends up as just another pretty picture on their wall, but creates an amazing experience for them to remember for the rest of their lives. After first meeting with Rachel and Daniel, it was easy to see what a fun, enthusiastic couple they were. They both seemed so full of energy and ready for anything life threw at them. It seems as our work would be cut out for us.
Ideas flew back and forth and we ultimately landed on our winning theme — paint. Happy as a clam, the gears began turning. As you may know by now, when we dream here in the studio, we like to dream big. Thoughts of this session kept me up at night like an 8 year old waiting for Santa to climb down the chimney. Haley, my lovely girlfriend/assistant, and I raided the paint department of our local hardware store like kids in a candy store in search of the the biggest and brightest paints we could find. We were ready to rock.
On the day of the shoot, I seriously couldn’t have asked for anything more. Rachel and Daniel were amazing. No inhibitions what-so-ever. These two dove right in with both feet and couldn’t have had more fun doing so. With every splash of the bucket came a bigger, happier smile on their faces.
Here’s a fun little behind the scenes shot of the lighting setup for all of your photographers out there that might be interested!
Of course, once the paint was gone, Rachel couldn’t let the fun stop there. She had a little surprise to help her unsuspecting fiance clean up a little quicker…. 😉
By the time we had wrapped up and were ready to go our separate ways, Daniel had cheerfully testified that “this had to be the funnest thing he had ever done in his entire life.” I quickly high-fived his technicolor hand and told him that I couldn’t be happier to hear that. Hearing things like that is what keeps me going and what makes me want to push even harder.
What can we dream up for your next shoot? 🙂
